Abstract for Project
The widespread use of WhatsApp Messenger as a primary communication tool presents significant opportunities and challenges for digital forensic investigations. The research problem centers on the difficulty of acquiring text message of WhatsApp Messenger due to encryption, data formats, and device variability. This study aims to develop and validate a robust forensic acquisition methodology that ensures the confidentiality, integrity and availability of WhatsApp message evidence. The objectives include proposing a method to acquire forensic evidence of text message in WhatsApp Messenger, to implement the proposed method and to evaluate the performance of proposed method. Methodologically, this research conduct an experimental approach imaging storage and extraction of message content and metadata. Expected outcomes include a proven acquisition framework that performs better than existing techniques in forensic through a best practice guidelines. This research contributes advancing for digital forensic capabilities in acquiring data and metadata on messaging application to help in cyber crime attacks.
