Abstract for Project
Integrating technological innovation without compromising spiritual and ethical integrity is one of the most pressing challenges in Islamic Education today. As education undergoes rapid digital transformation, driven by AI and emerging technologies, the challenge is not merely adopting new tools but ensuring they serve the higher moral and spiritual aims of learning. Tawazun Intelligence offers a purposeful solution by reimagining assessment through the lens of Wasatiyyah (moderation) and ethical educational practice. This AI-powered assessment assistant is designed to empower teachers in creating, evaluating, and reflecting on learning outcomes while remaining firmly anchored in Maqasid al-Shariah, adab, and akhlak. By applying Natural Language Processing (NLP), machine learning, and Explainable AI (XAI), the system extends beyond measuring cognitive achievement to analyze moral reasoning, emotional intelligence, and spiritual reflection. It generates custom rubrics rooted in balance, fairness, and relevance, detects potential bias, and offers transparent, personalized feedback to students. Central to its design is a human in the loop model that preserves teacher authority, ensuring AI acts as a collaborator rather than a replacement. Developed using open-source technologies such as Python, Streamlit, Hugging Face Transformers, and scikit-learn, Tawazun Intelligence integrates bias detection and Wasatiyyah-aligned rubric generation into a seamless educational tool. As a first-of-its-kind innovation in Islamic EdTech, it has the scalability to serve diverse contexts, from Islamic schools and madrasahs to higher education institutions, across multiple languages and cultural settings. By harmonizing digital capabilities with spiritual wisdom, it enhances teacher professionalism, deepens student engagement, and promotes an equitable approach to assessment that reflects the holistic values of Islamic pedagogy. Ultimately, Tawazun Intelligence represents a transformative step toward an educational future where technological advancement supports not supplants the moral and spiritual growth of learners.
