This study investigates the electrical behaviour of bare Al-IDE in undiluted pH buffer solutions across pH 1-13. In acidic to neutral conditions, the native oxide layer remains stable, resulting in low current. A significant increase in conductivity occurs above pH 10 due to oxide dissolution in alkaline environments, exposing the conductive aluminium surface. Undiluted buffers provide stable ionic strength, ensuring consistent oxide-electrolyte interactions and highly repeatable measurements. The findings demonstrate the suitability of undiluted buffers for reliable and low-cost pH sensing using Al-IDEs, supporting their application in robust electrochemical sensor design.
