ROGAYAH ESTAR BINTI MOHAMAD UNIVERSITI POLY-TECH MALAYSIA

The Development of The Islamic Psychospiritual Training Module for Malaysian Asatizah (MoPAM) is an innovative training framework designed to enhance mental health literacy among Malaysian asatizah by integrating foundational modern psychology with Islamic values. This structured module addresses three key objectives: (1) equipping asatizah with essential mental health knowledge aligned with Islamic teachings, (2) providing an interactive, user-friendly training package adaptable for hybrid delivery (online and face-to-face), and (3) strengthening the role of asatizah in higher education institutions (IPTA/IPTS) to support students’ psychological well-being sustainably and systematically. MoPAM incorporates distinctive features, including bilingual manuals (Malay and Arabic), interactive learning materials (videos, quizzes, and case studies), adherence to ethical counselling practices, and established clinical referral protocols, jointly endorsed by the Ministry of Health (KKM) and the Department of Islamic Development Malaysia (JAKIM). The target group comprises asatizah in IPTA/IPTS within the Klang Valley, with scalability potential nationwide upon demonstrated effectiveness. Guided by the Malaysia Madani framework by emphasising community engagement, compassion, and the value of ihsan and aligned with Sustainable Development Goals 3 (Good Health and Well-being), 4 (Quality Education) and 16 (Peace, Justice, and Strong Institutions). MoPAM offers a culturally grounded and practically applicable solution for integrating religious leadership into mental health promotion.
