TRC158: MALAY LANGUAGE READING SELF-LEARNING SYSTEM FOR DYSLEXIA

A system designed for Malay language reading self-learning targeted at children exhibiting possible dyslexia symptoms, implemented through a serious game and Machine Learning integrated into a hand-held smart device, the system encompasses (a) screening for dyslexia symptoms; and (b) Malay language reading practice wherein the screening process involves a 15-level parameter, categorized by age and gender, and utilizes the child's responses to the game to determine potential dyslexia, wherein the system accommodates age categories of 6, 7 to 8, and 9 to 10, as well as gender categories of male and female, and wherein the serious game component including working memory, directional confusion, sequential, balancing, focus, motor-skill, well-timed, and instructional understanding games, wherein machine learning algorithms aid in classifying children as dyslexic or non-dyslexic, wherein reading practice is facilitated through interactive methods such as interactive reading, readers theatre, and storyboarding, wherein the game data is collected through gamification techniques and stored in cloud storage for real-time access to the latest data, and wherein the system delivers outputs indicating the presence or absence of dyslexia symptoms in the child.
