TRC120: PeerPodcast: A Student-Centred, Transmedia Podcasting Model

Dr. Ainurliza Mat Rahim Fakulti Kepimpinan Dan Pengurusan, Universiti Sains Islam Malaysia

PeerPodcast is a student-centred pedagogical model that integrates podcast production and transmedia storytelling in media and communication courses. Rooted in paragogy, it promotes collaborative learning, rotating team roles, and the co-creation of socially relevant content. Students use accessible tools like CapCut, Canva, Audacity, and ChatGPT to produce podcasts and related media across platforms such as Spotify, Instagram, TikTok, and YouTube. Assessment is rubric-based and holistic, encouraging real-world engagement and soft skills development. Aligned with Education for Sustainable Development (ESD) and Value-Based Education (VBE), PeerPodcast is cost-effective and scalable, with commercial potential through teaching toolkits and micro-credentials in digital storytelling.
