TRC86: FutureEd: Transforming Career Guidance With Digital Tools

Dr Mariani Binti Mohd Dahlan Universiti Poly-Tech Malaysia

FutureEd is an innovative digital system designed to enhance student career guidance through automated interest analysis using Google’s productivity tools. The system begins with a Google Form that captures student biodata and responses to 15 interest-based questions related to four computing fields: Cyber Security, Mobile App Development, Computer Science, and Multimedia/3D Animation. Upon submission, Google Sheets and Apps Script automatically calculate scores, identify the most suitable field, and email each student a personalized report that includes their information, recommended field, suggested career path, and a QR code for instant result access. Students with low total scores (below 24) are flagged as less interested in computing, allowing for early intervention and counselling. All processed data is stored in a structured “Hasil” tab, which feeds into an interactive dashboard built with Looker Studio. The dashboard visualizes student trends and career preferences through charts, scorecards, and filters—ideal for presentations and data-driven discussions. FutureEd demonstrates how accessible digital tools can transform traditional guidance into a scalable, efficient, and personalized experience, equipping students with clearer pathways for their academic and professional futures.
