Abstract for Project Smart Excel Claims Tracker

The innovation project introduces a Smart Excel Claims Tracker, a spreadsheet application designed to simplify, automate, and improve the accuracy of claiming additional teaching hours in educational institutions. It features dropdown lists for activity types and course codes, predefined hourly rate calculations, conditional formatting to highlight missing information, and a dashboard that automatically summarises claims by employee and month. Additionally, an integrated macro generates password-protected, staff-specific claim documents for secure sharing and record-keeping. The system addresses the limitations of traditional manual claims processes, which can be slow, error-prone, and vary across departments. The Smart Excel Claims Tracker reduces administrative workload, prevents processing delays, and increases financial accuracy by automating calculations, standardising data entry, and providing quick summaries. Its flexible design supports multi-departmental use and offers an affordable, user-friendly solution for claim management in higher education.
