A portable mini solar dryer called Evacuated Glass-Thermal Absorber Tube Collector (EGATC) incorporating an evacuated tube solar collector with steel-based inner and outer absorbers was developed for efficient crop drying. It demonstrates superior drying performance compared to conventional open air methods particularly under diffuse solar radiation. Its design eliminates the need for tracking, positioning, or orientation which is easy to use and mobility. EGATC ensures sustainable and environmentally friendly food preservation by operating entirely on solar energy. The system's enhanced thermal efficiency under varied weather conditions makes it favourable for off-grid agricultural applications and contributes to improved post-harvest management in rural or remote areas.
