Integrating drone technology into education opens vast opportunities for advancing STEM, TVET, and 21st-century skill development. Drones not only spark curiosity and creativity but also nurture problem-solving, critical thinking, and collaboration of all essential competencies for the future workforce. However, many Malaysian schools face persistent barriers: the absence of official guidelines, insufficient teacher training, and a lack of structured implementation frameworks. These challenges have slowed adoption and limited the technology’s potential impact in classrooms. The Drone Usage Ecosystem Model in Schools Toolkit, developed from a validated doctoral research model, addresses these gaps through a research-informed, all-in-one digital platform. It empowers schools to assess readiness, ensure safety compliance, and integrate drones seamlessly into both curriculum and co-curricular activities. The model is built on six core components: (1) Drone Operation & Safety – Standards, regulations, and safe handling practices, (2) Career Pathways – Connecting learning to future job opportunities, (3) Structured Training – Skill development for teachers and students, (4) Collaborative Network Model – Partnerships with industry and agencies, (5) Drone Tournaments & Competitions – Platforms to showcase innovation, supported by a Competition Playbook to guide participation in drone-related events and (6) School Governance – Policy, planning, and resource management. Aligned with the Malaysia Drone Technology Action Plan 2022–2030 and supporting the 2027 KSSM/KSSR curriculum reform, the toolkit delivers a structured, scalable, and sustainable approach to drone adoption in schools. It enhances teacher competency, engages students in meaningful learning, and fosters pathways into emerging drone-related industries. By bridging empirical research with practical application, this toolkit serves as a replicable model for integrating educational technology, advancing Malaysia’s digital education agenda and inspiring similar initiatives globally.
