TRB209: TALK-PROOF CARD

NORHANINAH A GANI UNIVERSITY POLY-TECH MALAYSIA

In 2023, Malaysia produced over 300,000 graduates, yet many remain underemployed or work in fields unrelated to their studies. This challenge stems from key issues which are (1) the inability of graduates to effectively showcase relevant skills, (2) poor compilation of academic results, certificates and achievements and (3) universities’ limited systems to trace graduate employability and match academic qualifications with job relevance. To address these gaps, this project introduces the “Talk-Proof Card”, an innovative NFC-enabled digital portfolio that empowers graduates to present a complete verified profile. With real-time QR code access, the platform allows students to update personal and professional details, while universities and employers contribute academic data and performance feedback. Developed using Human-Centered Design and guided by the Technology Acceptance Model (TAM), this solution ensures usability, relevance and industry alignment. Pilot testing of the Talk-Proof Card revealed that 92% of graduates found the platform easy to use and 87% reported an improvement in their ability to present their skills to potential employers. Feedback from employers indicated that 80% felt the tool enhanced their ability to assess candidates’ qualifications and skill sets. Additionally, 95% of university administrators found the system effective in tracking graduate employability and performance over time. The “Talk-Proof Card” not only enhances graduate visibility and employability but also supports SDG 4 (Quality Education), SDG 8 (Decent Work and Economic Growth), and SDG 9 (Industry, Innovation, and Infrastructure). It is a scalable tool designed to bridge the gap between education and employment in a rapidly evolving job market.
